Mazatlan, which means "Place of the Deer," draws visitors from around the world to its incredible climate, stunning beaches and colorful culture. In this half-day tour, you will get a true taste of Mazatlan, from cathedrals to cliff divers, as your guide escorts you to some of the city's most popular attractions.

Your narrated tour begins when you board your air-conditioned transportation for the short, scenic ride up Vigia ("Watchman's") Hill. Your guide will point out the picturesque sights from this sweeping vantage point: the coastline, offshore islands, and El Faro lighthouse – one of the highest operating lighthouses in the world sitting on top of Creston Hill. You might even see your sparkling ship in the deep blue Pacific! From here, you will descend for a visit to Old Mazatlan, the city's historic district that showcases colorful post colonial buildings and the grandeur of a bygone era.

The highlight is a stop to explore the 19th century Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Renaissance domes, twin spires and Gothic arches soar above you in this beautiful and spiritual space, originally completed in 1899. Two towers rise into the sky, and a bright yellow European-style dome is a picture-perfect feature of this Gothic and Moorish inspired landmark. Inside, a magnificent organ built in Paris by one of the greatest organ builders of the 19th century is a focal point. Nods to other cultures can be found in this great and ornate house of worship, including colorful Stars of David incorporated within each of the 28 stained-glass windows – in thanks for the donation of construction funds from a local Jewish family.

Your tour continues from divinity to diving, as you re-board the transportation for the short trip to Divers Point. Here, expert cliff divers plunge fearlessly from a nearly 50-foot platform into a scant six feet of water from atop a rocky cliff, timing their dives with the incoming waves. The tradition of cliff diving in Mazatlan dates back to the mid-1900s, when the platform that is still in use was built. Take note how the divers, perched at both the top and base of the cliffs, help by studying the wave patterns.

After the excitement of cliff diving, you'll relax with a little stroll in the Zona Dorado, or Golden Zone, where you can browse for souvenirs, jewelry and handicrafts amid palm lined beaches and luxury resorts. Don't forget to gaze down the Malecón, a 13-mile waterfront walkway, one of the longest of its kind in Mexico, a great spot for people-watching.

Choose return to port or visit independently the Mazatlán Aquarium at a highly discounted rate (payable with debit or credit cards only). A designated host will welcome guests and coordinate your return to the ship.
Carry back home both souvenirs and lingering memories of this beautiful coastal town that you won't soon forget!
