What you will visit:

Authentic Martinique by Cabrio Bus
A colorful, open-air bus is your transportation through Martinique's beautiful landscapes to a smattering of its most memorable cultural and historic landmarks.

Saint-Pierre
This historic village, founded in 1635 and known as the "Paris of the Caribbean," was once the thriving cultural capital of Martinique until its desecration. Martinique's original capital and cultural and commercial center, the ruins of St.-Pierre are situated in the northern rainforest part of the island. On May 8, 1902, towering Mount Pelée erupted and completely destroyed St.-Pierre in the worst volcanic disaster of the 20th century. Today, the "Pompeii of the Caribbean" is a protected archaeological site where commercial buildings, a church and a colonial home are among the relics waiting silently to be discovered.

What you will see along the way:
Gaze out the window as you travel along picturesque coastal roads and then turn inland onto the Route de la Trace, heading through the lush ferns and stately bamboo of the island's interior rainforest. On your return, journey through a series of small, local fishing villages, including Bellefontaine, Case-Pilote, Schoelcher and Le Carbet, which is noted for its proximity to the spot where Christopher Columbus landed in 1502.

Photo Opportunity:
Alma River & Gendarme Waterfall
Focus your lens on the natural beauty of this waterway, known also as the White River for its sparkling, white crested rapids. Gendarme waterfall is a short walk in the rain forest.

Church of Balata – Sacré-Coeur de la Balata
Situated on a spectacular summit, surrounded by a tropical forest just outside of town, this graceful house of worship, built in 1925, is a miniature version of the Sacred Heart Basilica of Montmartre in Paris. The photographic Roman-Byzantine structure is situated at the city's highest point, just as its Parisian big sister is, and offers picture-perfect views of the surrounding countryside.

Tasting:
The award-winning St Pierre Distillery produces some of the island's best rums. Rum is the agricultural lifeblood of Martinique, and the rums here are made directly from cane, not molasses. At this working facility, enjoy a tasting of some of the most celebrated offerings.
