WHAT YOU VISIT
Arles
Founded as a Roman colony in 46 B.C., its Roman architecture has earned it UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Enjoy a guided walking tour through the historic center, where you'll see the well-preserved 2,000-year-old Roman Amphitheater and the ancient Theater. But Arles is more than a site of Roman ruins, it's also where Vincent Van Goth lived from 1888 to 1889 and produced some of his most famous masterpieces such as "Sunflowers," "The Yellow House" and "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear." During the tour, you'll pay an outside visit to the St. Trophyme church where Van Gogh frequented and Le Café de la Gare, the famous café depicted in Van Gogh's "Café Terrace at Night."
Saint Rémy de Provence
A Roman outpost 2,500 years ago, this picturesque village rests in the heart of the Alpilles, known as the "little Alps" of Provence. Van Gogh painted 150 paintings such as "Starry Night," "Irises" and "Olive Trees" while recuperating at the Monastery of Saint-Paul de Mausole lunatic asylum after cutting off his ear in Arles. View the 11th century Benedictine monastery during a guided walk of the city's historic center past bustling squares, elegant boutiques and traditional Provençal markets.
