What you will Visit:
Bodega Macià Batle winery
Built in 1996, its impressive architectural style is a reflection of just what makes the wines unique: the blend of modernity and tradition. Bodegas Macià Batle has been making wines with passion since 1856, and now a new generation of grape-growers and oenologists has begun working in an effort to create exquisite wines with body and soul. To reflect the vintner's art, the winery enhances its labels with original commissioned artwork produced each year by renowned artists.
What you will see along the way:
Travel through the Mallorcan countryside taking in the stunning natural beauty, the shimmering quality of the light, and the iridescent shorelines. The 19th-century French writer George Sand spent a winter in Mallorca during which she wrote, 'Everything that the poet and the painter can dream of has been created by nature in this place.'
Photo Opportunities:
Bellver Castle
One of a kind in Spain, the 14th-century medieval Bellver Castle is a circular castle and one of the very rare round castles standing today. Constructed atop a hill surrounded by fragrant pine trees, the castle took approximately 10 years to complete and was conceived as a royal residence. The castle was occupied by King Sanç (in 1314) followed by Aragón's Joan I (in 1395) before being repurposed as a prison in 1717. Today it contains Palma's museum of municipal history. The castle's original name, 'Bellver,' meaning 'beautiful view,' is fitting for one of Palma's most treasured photo stops.
Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma
Use a wide-angle lens to capture all the majesty of Palma's vast, emblematic cathedral, commonly referred to as La Seu. It is the city's major architectural landmark and was founded by King James I of Aragon in honor of the Virgin Mary after he survived a terrible storm. The building's construction spanned from 1229 until its completion in 1601. The awesome structure, 121 meters long and 55 meters wide, was built on the site of a Moorish-era mosque and was constructed from golden limestone from the Santanyi quarries.
