Go underground on this intriguing half-day excursion. The main attraction is a geological wonderland formed by the inexorable force of the Mediterranean which has been tunneling into a cliff near Manacor since the Miocene age. At the heart of the caves lies Martel Lake which lays claim to being one of the largest underground lakes in the world.

The caves were explored by the father of speleology (the study of caves) Edouard A. Martel, who discovered four interconnecting caverns: Black Cave, White Cave, the Cave of Luis Salvador and the Cave of the French. This vast subterranean network is decorated by Mother Nature with an impressive display of stalactites and stalagmites and it is all colorfully lit for maximum effect. Take the easy paved trail through the caves and find your seat in the bleachers that line a portion of Martel Lake. The anticipation mounts as a group of classical musicians arrive via boat and the glorious sounds begin to drift across the waters and swell with crescendos amplified by the fabulous acoustics of this natural amphitheatre. And it's all set against a backdrop of shadow and light playing on the cave walls.

Completing your cave adventure, you'll reboard your motorcoach for the continuation of your tour. Highlights include the charming fishing village of Porto Cristo, one of the island's oldest harbors. It boasts a sheltered bay with a beautiful extensive beach of fine sand and shallow water and a charming array of hotels, bars, restaurants and shops. Shop for Mallorcan pearls during a pearl factory stop.

The return motorcoach ride to the ship is across the island's fertile plains, passing through many typically picturesque farming communities.
