Your tour begins as you board your motorcoach for a scenic drive to Llangollen, a small village in the Dee Valley famed for its International Eisteddfod, a festival of folk music, costumes, and dance. The village's 14th-century stone bridge is considered one of Wales' great scenes.

En route, you'll drive to the Wirral Peninsula, crossing under the Mersey River via the Mersey Tunnel. You'll continue to Ruthin and cross the Horseshoe Pass, a mountain pass in northeast Wales, and witness views of rugged mountains and the Vale of Clywd before arriving in Llangollen.

In Llangollen, you'll browse the village shops and have an opportunity to purchase lunch at your own expense, then board the Llangollen Railway for a scenic seven-mile ride along the banks of the River Dee to Carrog. Your restored steam locomotive pulls a train of vintage 1960s passenger cars.

Next, you'll drive to Chirk Castle. Now owned by the National Trust, this country home was originally built as a Marcher stronghold by Edward I. Adam's Tower boasts a magnificent dungeon and original 13th-century military features including two 'murder holes.' You'll tour the interior and fine gardens and witness its playful topiary before returning to Liverpool.
