Spend a relaxing half-day exploring Portugal's wonderful coastline and countryside, starting with a scenic drive from the pier at Lisbon, through the city and on towards Queluz.
Accompanied by your guide, you will drive through the Belém district, passing by the breath-taking Jerónimos Monastery, the unique Monument to the Discoveries and Belém Tower fortress, which sits on the edge of the Tagus River.
On arrival at Queluz, you will discover one of Portugal's most elegant royal residences. Built in the 18th century for Dom Pedro of Braganza, the National Palace of Queluz is a masterpiece of Rococo and Neoclassical design, often described as Portugal's answer to Versailles. Wander through its opulent state rooms, including the striking Throne Room and the Music Room, and admire the palace's rich history as a summer retreat for the royal family, including Queen Maria I.
Outside, the palace's formal gardens are equally captivating, with manicured hedges, ornamental statues, tiled canals and fountains that reflect the grandeur of 18th-century court life. Take some time to stroll through the gardens at your own pace, or simply admire the elegant façade of the palace and its surrounding grounds.
Climbing back on to the bus, you will then head towards the small fishing village of Cascais, which is now a popular destination for holidaymakers.
At Cascais, enjoy the breeze from the sea, as you take in the relaxing ocean views and stroll the streets, shopping for gifts and souvenirs.
The town boasts an interesting mixture of early 20th-century homes, modern buildings and also several small sandy beaches.
After enjoying this pretty beach resort, you will climb back onto the bus for the return journey to Lisbon, passing by many seaside villages and the mouth of the Tagus.
