Wear your most comfortable walking shoes, as this guided tour is designed to take you all over this fascinating city.
Beginning in the narrow streets of the Alfama, Lisbon's old Moorish Quarter, you will visit the Sé Cathedral, the oldest church in the city, constructed in 1147. Nestling in the heart of Alfama, this medieval-looking church features Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque architecture and many intricate details such as the tomb of the Knight Lopo Fernandes. Your guide will walk you around the building, before continuing on foot up into the neighboring district of Graça, one of Lisbon's oldest and most authentic residential quarters. Here you will stop at some of the city's most celebrated viewpoints, taking in sweeping panoramas over the terracotta rooftops of Alfama, the Tagus River, and the castle above, with plenty of time for photographs.
Descending back through the winding lanes, you will emerge to head to the banks of the River Tagus. Along the way you will stroll around Black Horse Square, which features fine 18th-century neoclassical buildings, and a magnificent bronze statue of a man on a horse. You will then walk along the Rua Augusta, a charming pedestrianized street, to Rossio Square in the Baixa, Lisbon's central shopping district. Continue your tour around the reconstructed Chiado Quarter, a popular and elegant shopping district, where you will have time to browse for souvenirs and gifts, before boarding the bus back to the harbor. If you desire, you may extend your shopping time here, and return to the ship independently.
