WHAT YOU VISIT
Janubio Salt Flats

Established in 1895, its salt, known as "white gold," is still harvested by hand with rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows. A guided walking tour offers a look at the evaporation ponds, hydraulic system, mills and the traditional, artisanal extraction process. After the tour, you'll be offered a of sampling of different types of salt including Flor de Sal and a gift package.

Bodega Mota
This family-run winery has used time-honored, handcrafting techniques to create its wine. The tour begins with a private visit to the bodega's museum, which houses vintage tools and wine-making equipment. After the tour, enjoy a tasting of two wines accompanied by local cheese.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
The Janubio Salt Flats make an ideal photo subject. Not just white, the salt comes in a variety of colors such as pink, magenta and red. Contrast these colors with the black volcanic rock, black sand beaches and blues of the Atlantic Ocean and you have a picture-perfect memory.
