Rainforest Nature Walk
Strenuous Activity
Includes meal
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Your full, five-hour excursion includes scenic driving and lunch and takes you deep into Langkawi's rainforest for a guided nature walk. You'll be introduced to some of the exotic plant and animal wonders on these islands. Bring your camera, some comfortable walking shoes, and a sharp eye for spotting some of the amazing residents of the forest.
The archipelago of Langkawi consists of 99 tropical islands (with five more temporary isles revealed at low tide!) off the northwestern coast of mainland Malaysia. The islands contain spectacular natural wonders, including caves, sea-arches, ancient fossils, flat plains, forested mountains, and dramatic limestone and sandstone outcroppings.
Your guide will lead you along the jungle path and through the lush rainforest. Look up and you might see great hornbills or even the rare colugo, sometimes called a flying lemur (though they are not true lemurs). Colugos are about the size of large squirrels and have a "cape" of skin between their limbs that gives them the ability to glide long distances between trees! You may hear and see monkeys, like the sociable macaque or the adorably wide-eyed dusky leaf monkey, hanging out and watching you from the treetops. On the rainforest floor, you might come across some wild boar or the tiny mouse deer. In the air, look for some of the 300 different butterfly types that live in the region! The lush rainforest is full of life, and your guide will help you spot some of the things you might otherwise walk right by!
At the completion of your relaxed two-hour walk, return to the motorcoach for the ride to a local hotel, where you will enjoy some of the island's cuisine and a chance to share and recount some of the things you saw on your walk.
After lunch, it is just a short drive back to the ship.
