WHAT YOU VISIT
Medieval Villages in the Tuscan Countryside
Enjoy time to wander the medieval streets in one of these two enchanting villages:  Montecarlo di Lucca sits atop a hill overlooking olive groves and vineyards, with thick stone walls and a fortress dating back to 1333. Or you may visit the hidden gem known as Lari, another hilltop village whose center of town is dominated by a medial castle.

Tuscan Wine Cellar
Learn how wine is produced with tour of the machinery used in production followed by a wine tasting accompanied by local delicacies.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Not only is Tuscany famed for its softly rolling hills but if you visit Montecarlo di Lucca, be sure to walk the circuit of the walls where you'll find three of the original fifteen city gates erected in the 14th century. In Lari, the castle is hard to miss; set in the middle of town, it dates back to 1061.

TASTING
Sip and savor the fine flavors of three to four Tuscan wines pared with salami, cheese, ham, bruschetta, sweet wine and biscuits.

SHOPPING
While visiting the wine cellar, you'll have the opportunity to purchase your favorite wines.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Drink up the colorful sights as you head north through a landscape of city streets, sprawling vistas once occupied by Romans and villages erected in the Middle Ages.

Schedule

Special Notes

Please note the tour may run in reverse. You will visit either Montecarlo di Lucca or Lari. Montecarlo di Lucca and Lari villages are extremely small; there are a few shops and each village consists of one road. Most shops are closed on statutory holidays and on Sundays. The drive between La Spezia and the village is approximately 60 minutes each way.
