WHAT YOU VISIT
Spill the Silver Tea: Elegance & History in El Triunfo
After the discovery of gold and silver in 1862, El Triunfo grew from a sleepy town to a bustling mining and cultural center of 10,000 citizens. Once the largest city in Baja California Sur, people left when the mines shut down in 1926 and today, only 300 people live in this hidden gem. A guided walk through the charming Cobblestone streets takes you past the 19th century church to the old silver processing plant with its towering chimneys. A tour of the Ruta de Plata Museum showcases exhibits about the "Silver Route" with oral history videos, mineral specimens and a simulated mine entrance.
