Cuidad Vieja (Old town) is La Coruna's oldest area, built on the site of an ancient Celtic hillfort that dates back to the 3rd century BC to the 2nd century AD. Once you arrive, you'll follow your guide through the grand Plaza María Pita, named after the woman who helped save the city from the British forces in the 16th century. You'll be struck by the imposing collection of monumental buildings such as the impressive Town Hall, churches dating back to the 12th century and the Galician Academy, dedicated to the study of Galician culture and language. Your stroll takes you to Plaza de Azcarraga, noted as one of the most beautiful squares in the city. After rejoining the coach, you'll travel past the imposing Castle of San Antón, which houses the Archaeological Museum, and stop at the fabled Tower of Hercules for photos.
