WHAT YOU VISIT
Estrella Galicia Museum (MEGA)
Established in 1906 by Jose María Rivera Corral, smooth and crisp Estrella Galicia beer is synonymous with Galician culture. Stretching out over 26,000 feet, Spain's first beer museum offers a look at the beer's history, how it's produced and more during a guided tour led by a MEGA expert. After a look at the working factory, the knowledgeable staff will teach you how to pour the perfect beer. To round-off your experience, enjoy a tasting of four different Estrella Galicia beers accompanied by local cheeses.
María Pita Square
Located in the heart of the city, this plaza is named for María Pita, who helped defend the city against the invasion of the English privateer Francis Drake in 1589. Once here, enjoy some free time before going back to ship or, if you prefer, stay in town to make the most of your day and walk back to the ship at your convenience.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Rising 423 feet above La Coruña, San Pedro Mount not only offers superb views over the city and the Atlantic Ocean but the park also holds remnants of the Spanish army's occupation of the region during the Spanish Civil War.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
As your driver heads to the Old City, you'll marvel at the Romanesque structures that dot the streets and squares and pass by the Tower of Hercules. Rising 180 feet on a 187-foot-high rock, the 2nd century monument was recognized by UNESCO as 'the only fully preserved Roman lighthouse that is still used for maritime signaling.'
