What you will visit:
Amber Processing Center
Baltic amber began its life journey some 50 million years ago when the tree resin that trapped small insects and foliage began to fossilize. After the discovery of an abundance in the area in 1854, amber excavation began in earnest. Today the production of amber as a cherished commodity in art and jewelry flourishes in this area of the country. At the amber processing factory, you can meet the artists and craftsmen who, through a process of cutting, carving and baking, turn the resin into works of art.

Klaipėda - Old Town (walking tour)
Founded in 1252 by Teutonic knights under the name 'Memelburg,' Klaipėda is the oldest city in Lithuania. The influence of German design is exhibited along the cobbled streets of the Old Town and the 18th-century buildings of the crafts yard, home to the city's artisans and considered the cultural center of the area. The city's passion for statuary is on full display here, with the little boy of the famed 'Childhood's Dream' waving his hat to the passing ships alongside his canine companion. Dogs, cats and mice are immortalized in bronze alongside their human counterparts in artwork scattered throughout the city.

What you will see along the way:
A drive through central Klaipeda reveals a glimpse into the history of Lithuania, including the time spent under Soviet rule. Discover the Clock and Watch Museum, the Park of Sculptures, a neo-Gothic post office and Klaipeda University, which is housed in a converted military barracks. The southern area of the city is populated by Soviet-era housing, typically only four stories high, with some dating back to the Khrushchev era, and provides a glimpse into the area's living past.

Refreshment:
In Old Town, taste herbal herbal tea while listening to the tales of the amber trading route stretching as far Rome.

Shopping:
Shop for Lithuanian souvenirs, which are not only beautifully made, but also of very good value.
