What you will see along the way:
As you journey through the waters surrounding Ketchikan, you'll be immersed in the natural beauty of Alaska's Inside Passage. Towering evergreen forests line the rugged coastline, while snow-capped peaks rise in the distance. On the water, keep an eye out for humpback whales breaching, orcas breaking the surface, and harbor seals lounging on rocky outcrops. Dall's porpoises often play in the boat's wake, and eagles soar overhead. In addition to marine wildlife, you'll pass small islands, and hidden coves-offering a glimpse into the region's rich maritime culture.

Alaska State regulation requires those engaging in sportfishing to purchase and carry on their person a State of Alaska sport fishing license, which should be purchased in advance of your tour. One day non-resident licenses are $15 per person. The guide will advise if you need to purchase a king salmon stamp ($15 per person) at the marina. Bottom fishing is done by mooching or jigging bait off the ocean floor, typically in 200-400 feet of water, while the boat is on anchor or drifting in one area. Each fisherman has use of their own rod and reel while fishing. Any halibut caught must be released per state regulation
Your catch can be processed and shipped home for an additional charge as arranged by the tour operator. Because of its perishable nature and U.S. Customs regulations, your catch may not be sent outside of the United States. Due to federal regulations, your catch may not be stored onboard your cruise ship, but a portion may be prepared for dinner onboard. Please note there is no guarantee your catch will meet the required food safety standards (temperature, condition, etc.) upon delivery to the ship, and the ship's food preparation staff will assess your catch's suitability.
