What you will visit:

The Kaua'i Museum
Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of the native Hawaiian people at the Kaua'i Museum. Established over a century ago, this cultural treasure offers a fascinating journey through time, showcasing an extensive collection of artifacts that highlight early Hawaiian life, the Hawaiian monarchy, and the island's sugar plantation era. The museum is housed in the historic Albert Spencer Wilcox Building, a striking stone structure built in 1924, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Inside, you'll find an impressive display of relics from ancient Hawaiian civilization, as well as exhibits dedicated to the Ali'i (Hawaiian royalty) from the late 18th century to the present day.

Hula Demonstration
Experience the beauty of Hawaii's traditional dance, the hula, with a live demonstration right on the shores of Lydgate Beach. Let the rhythmic movements and graceful storytelling transport you as the ocean breeze adds to the magic of the moment. This is a rare opportunity to connect with Hawaiian culture in an unforgettable, authentic setting.

Wailua Falls
Wailua Falls, made famous by the opening credits of the television show "Fantasy Island," offers a truly breathtaking sight. Also referred to as Wai'ehu Falls, its cascading waters plunge gracefully over a basalt cliff shaped by ancient volcanic activity. Surrounded by lush tropical greenery, this stunning natural wonder creates a tranquil and picturesque setting, perfect for those seeking the serenity of nature's beauty.

Menehune Fishpond
The Alekoko Fishpond, also known as Menehune Fishpond, is an ancient Hawaiian aquaculture site, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built nearly 1,000 years ago, it stands as a remarkable example of early Hawaiian engineering and aquaculture, designed to trap fish for easy harvesting. The pond is surrounded by a legendary tale involving the Menehune, mystical people said to have constructed the entire fishpond in a single night, passing stones hand to hand across 25 miles.

What you will see along the way:
Driving through Nawiliwili, Kauai, you'll see Nawiliwili Harbor with its brightly colored ships and boats. Kalapaki Beach's sandy shoreline, nearby resorts, and Lihue's local shops give way to the lush greenery of the mountains surrounding the area, including the Huleia National Wildlife Refuge and Nawiliwili Park.
