An island full of history, natural beauty and friendly faces, Kangaroo Island is a delightful stop on your cruise journey.
Begin your tour with a visit to the township of Kingscote, the largest town on the island and South Australia's oldest European settlement. Here you will enjoy free time to stroll down lovely main street, purchase some souvenirs, wander to the nearby beach or simply sit and talk to the locals. Located on the beautiful shores of Nepean Bay, Kingscote is also home to a colony of the smallest penguins in the world, aptly known as the little penguin.

Continue the tour with a scenic drive past Reeves Point. This Australian Heritage Listed point is the site of the first official European colony in South Australia. Remnants of the site's rich heritage remain, such as pieces of the historic jetty. Keep your eyes peeled for the remarkable Old Mulberry Tree, which was planted at Reeves Point in 1836 and still thrives today.

Next stop is American River, this area was first visited by Europeans in 1802 when Matthew Flinders landed to survey this part of Kangaroo Island. In 1803, a group of American sealers camped for four months in the area. They arrived on the brig Union and built their own 35 ton schooner Independence from local timber. The town takes its name from this time.

Get those cameras ready. Photography enthusiasts will fall in love with Pennington Bay. This picturesque series of beaches features breathtaking cliffs, waters of every shade of blue and stunning coastlines. A popular haunt for surfers, Pennington Bay's natural beauty can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. In the right weather conditions, giant waves crash against the shore and the towering cliffs above.

Enjoy a quick photo stop before boarding the coach for the short journey back to the ship.
