Your journey begins at the pier where you'll board your air-conditioned minibus. From Kahului, we'll travel upcountry on a scenic drive, passing sugar cane fields, pineapple plantations and panoramic views of the island for Haleakala National Park Visitor Center. Re-board the minibus and continue on a circuitous road that meanders uphill for miles until reaching the Haleakala Visitor Center and Ranger Station. Enjoy the expansive views from your 9.740-foot vantage point.
Last erupting in 1790, the volcano's massive crater is over seven-miles long and three-miles wide. The crater floor is located 3,000 feet below the rim and dotted with plant life and cinder cones. Enjoy the breathtaking view from the crater's rim. After seeing Haleakala at sunrise, Mark Twain was moved to write: "It was the sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed."
