Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Your full-day tour begins as you board your motorcoach and travel south to the Satsuma Peninsula, a mountainous, geothermal wonderland of hot springs.
Your first destination is a samurai house in Chiran. Chiran was once the stronghold of the Shimazu samurai, and boasts a lane lined by residences of warriors who lived in Edo period (17th through mid-19th centuries). You can see provincial samurais' sense of beauty when you enter their properties. Stroll down a street lined with well-preserved samurai houses and their small gardens.
Next you will enjoy a short photo stop at Lake Ikeda. The largest lake on Kyushu, Lake Ikeda is actually a caldera, the remains of a collapsed volcano. Legend has it that it's where Issie, a Japanese lake monster, lurks. Be sure to have your camera ready, as the lake serves as a stunning frame for serene Mt. Kaimon (weather permitting), a beautifully conical volcano that resembles Mt. Fuji in shape.
Enjoy a Western-style lunch in a local restaurant before your tour concludes with a relaxing drive back to the pier.
