What you will visit:
Waterfall Creek Brown Bear Viewing
An unparalleled opportunity to observe Alaska coastal brown bears in their natural habitat at remote Waterfall Creek on Chichagof Island, accessible by floatplane. This exceptional location comes alive during the salmon run, when bears gather along the rushing falls to fish in fast-moving waters. After landing, follow your Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certified guide along the shoreline to a carefully selected viewing area positioned for optimal wildlife observation and photography. Here, you will remain seated and still for approximately three hours, quietly watching as bears move through the landscape, fish for salmon, navigate the creek, and interact within their natural environment, a truly Alaskan experience.
What you will see along the way:
Delight in two scenic 30-minute floatplane flights featuring aerial views of Southeast Alaska. Your floatplane climbs over the Gastineau Channel as the town quickly gives way to dense Tongass National Forest and steep coastal mountains. As you head west toward Chichagof Island, the landscape opens into a maze of forested islands, deep fjords, and winding waterways. Below, watch for whales surfacing, seals hauled out along rocky shorelines, and boats dwarfed by the surrounding wilderness.
Snack:
Enjoy hearty snacks along with a souvenir water bottle filled with water to keep you refreshed while viewing bears at Waterfall Creek. Snacks are selected to avoid producing crumbs, helping us respect the environment and surrounding wildlife.
