Treadwell Ditch Trail
Nestled within the Tongass National Forest, lucky hikers may see porcupine or deer while they pass by the large trees and wildflower-strewn alpine meadow. Learn about the fascinating history of the flora and fauna unique to Alaska's sub-alipine ecosystem as well the industrious miners who created the namesake ditch to create hydroelectric power.
What you will see along the way:

While on your ride, you'll be treated to wonderful alpine scenery, the sounds of majestic eagles in flight, and endless snow-capped mountain vistas.
Photo Stops:
As you roll along the scenic trail, you'll stop at key vantage points for photos, including a muskeg featuring the unique bonsai-looking trees dating as old as 300 years, with a majestic mountain scape backdrop. At the halfway point, focus your lens on crystalline Fish Creek.
