WHAT YOU VISIT
Yeni Camii
Also known as the New Mosque, it's a defining feature of Istanbul's skyline. Located on the water's edge, it boasts 66 domes and semi-domes and two minarets, with an elegant fountain sitting in the center. Erected in the 16th century to honor the Venetian wife of Sultan Murat II and mother of Sultan Mehmet, it was built as part of a complex that also contained a hospital, baths, fountains and the Spice Market.
Spice Market
While the complex of buildings centered around Yeni Camii have long disappeared, the market remains and you'll have free time to explore. Here, you'll find colorful confections, dried fruits, vivid-hued spices and rows of sweets. Vendors are often happy to give you a sample, making your day in Turkey a true delight!

Like most buildings erected during the Ottoman era, Yeni Camii is an architectural delight. Focus your lens on the minarets, ascending buttresses and half domes surrounding the large central dome that measures 36 meters (118 feet) tall.
