WHAT YOU VISIT
Beylerbeyi Palace
Built on the Asian side of the Bosphorus between 1861 and 1865, Beylerbeyi was used by Sultan Abdul Aziz as a summer residence and a place to entertain visiting heads of state. A symbol of glamour and decadence of the Ottoman Empire of the 19th century, it was designed in an ornate Baroque style, with 26 rooms, six sitting rooms, a valide sultan room (used for the mother of the sultan) and two bathing pavilions – one for the men and the other for the sultan's harem. On your tour you'll marvel at the extravagant pool and fountain that resides inside the reception hall, the large Bohemian crystal chandeliers and the intricately woven Turkish carpets.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Filming and photography are not allowed inside the palace.
