Attached to the mainland by a narrow isthmus of land just over six miles wide, the West Fjords are one of the least-visited corners of Iceland; in fact, this breathtakingly beautiful region only receives three percent of visitors every year. Which means you may have this quiet corner of the world all to yourself. Spend the day and explore its dramatic and mystical scenery, learn of its Viking heritage and meet the people who have forged a living among its crystal-clear waters.

Before you board the coach for your all-day adventure be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and warm clothing. And bring along your camera to preserve everlasting memories.

Firstyou will take a southerly route through a barren landscape of gently rolling hills to the Dynjandi waterfall, one of Iceland's most stunning natural wonders. Have your camera ready as you step off the coach. A series of seven falls cascade from a height of 328 feet into the fjord at Dynjandisvogur inlet, forming a triangular cascade roughly 98 feet wide at its top spreading to over 196 feet at the bottom. There is a bit of a walk up to the waterfall, but for those who want to see it up close are in for a treat, as they will also see smaller waterfalls surrounding Dynjandi.

Photos taken, you'll rejoin your coach and continue on to the fishing village of Sudureyri. Here you will be able to get a taste of some dry fish and a fish fricadelle before you drive back to the pier.

At the end of the day you'll settle in and relax on the coach ride back to port with a camera filled with one-of-a-kind delights..

Special Notes

The tour operator reserves the right to operate the tour in reverse order if needed. Child seats (except infant carriers) can be requested from the local excursion operators, but these are only available in limited numbers per port. We therefore ask you to bring a suitable child seat for your child so that participation in your reserved shore excursion can be made possible. Please note: For those who want to walk up to Dynjandi waterfall, should bring good hiking shoes as the landscape is very rugged and uneven. Dress in line with local weather conditions (we recommend layers, the outer being wind/waterproof) - with sturdy, non slip foot wear.
