Strenuous Activity

WHAT YOU VISIT
Dalt Vila
Catalan for Upper Town, Dalt Villa sits high atop a small mountain that boasts commanding views and wrapped in 16th century walls that Kings Charles I and Philip II of Spain had constructed to defend the town against the French and the Ottomans. A guide will lead you from the top of Dalt Vila, via tiny whitewashed alleys and a series of cobblestone streets and courtyards to a number of iconic landmarks. A visit to the 13th century Maria de les Neus Cathedral (Cathedral of Our Lady of the Snows) is a reminder that Ibiza was part of the Muslim empire until 1235 when King James I of Aragon conquered the town and the neighboring
Mallorca. You'll also visit the Puget Museum and see the Dominican Convent (now the Town Hall), the Chapel of San Ciriaco, and the Episcopal Palace (now the Bishop's Residence).
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Looking out from Dalt Vila, you'll have wonderful views over Ibiza's sister island, Formentera, and the port of Ibiza.
REFRESHMENTS
Leaving the ancient city walls through one of the wall doors, you will return to the lively port of Ibiza and relax over a glass of Cava sangria at a tiny bistro.
SHOPPING
Before returning to the pier, enjoy free time to stroll on your own and do little shopping; Ibizan salt, anise liqueur infused with herbs and hand-made straw hats are favorite souvenirs.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
During the short drive from the pier to Dalt Vila, you'll travel through a landscape where a who's who of ancient civilizations once walked-from Phoenician settlers to Romans, Vandals, Byzantines and Moors.
