WHAT YOU VISIT
Las Salinas Nature Park
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park stretches from southeast Ibiza to the Island of Formentera, the smallest of Spain's Balearic Islands. Spanning 3,000 hectares (7,400 acres) of land the park is known for its salt flats, beaches, and wetlands. Salt has been extracted from these pits for centuries and remains an active industry.
San José
Ibiza's largest town offers a number of charming delights. The Sa Caleta viewpoint offers magnificent views of terracotta-colored cliffs set against a blue sky. Visit the old church, a simple yet beautiful building, very typical of the local architecture whose main façade boasts an impressive bell tower with a sundial (the only one on the island).
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
For bird enthusiasts, the Las Salinas Nature Park offers 210 different species. Have your camera ready to capture flamingos, the common stork, the white jar, the black-legged plover, along with seabirds such as the Audouin's gull and the Balearic shearwater.
SNACKS
While visiting San José, you'll be treated to a tasty Ibizan breakfast that includes coffee and pastries such as Flao, a tradition in the Balearic Islands.
WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
Your half-day adventure takes you around the island from the capital city south to the Las Salinas Nature Park, northwest to San Jose and north to the village of Sant Antoni de Portmany.
