Upon leaving the harbor, we will drive through the lush countryside, admiring the beautiful landscape of Ibiza. The National Geographic guide will explain about how herbs and honey have been used on the island for hundreds of years.
Following our drive, we'll be met by an expert in herbalism who will join us for a walk through the woods where we will learn about the different herbs growing on Ibiza and how they are used in daily life. During our walk, we will have a chance to pick, smell, and taste a wide variety of the herbs found on the island.
After the walk, we will enjoy an exclusive visit to an organic farm, where National Geographic travelers will be welcomed by the farm's owner and beekeeper. After learning about the life and behavior of the farm's honeybees, we'll don protective beekeeping suits. Once the smoker is used, we'll approach the beehives and continue to learn about the importance of these fascinating winged insects in our ecosystem, and why and how we should protect them.
We will then have the opportunity to relax and enjoy a variety of honeys, each produced in different seasons, to learn about the nuances of their flavors. Accompanying the honey will be an array of local cheeses, almonds and honey liqueur-all local products from the island.
