What you will visit:

Penrhyn Castle
Built between 1820 and 1833 by the famed architect Thomas Hopper, this neo-Norman masterpiece was constructed on the site of a medieval manor home for the second Lord Penrhyn, the politician George Hay Dawkins-Pennant. The somber façade of the castle belies the ornate interior, which features handmade wallpaper, luxurious carpets and stained-glass windows. Prior to his death in 1840, Dawkins-Pennant entrusted his son-in-law with expanding on the castle's art collection, which is now considered the finest in Wales and includes works by Canaletto.

What you will see along the way:
Board your motorcoach for the one-hour trip across Anglesey. Cross the Menai Strait into Wales on the imposing Britannia Bridge, originally designed by Robert Stephenson in 1850. Continue to Bangor and Penrhyn Castle.

Shopping:
There are several retail establishments on the grounds of Penrhyn Castle. Shop the castle store for lovely mementos as well as local delicacies and peruse the wide selection found on the shelves of the second-hand bookstore.
