What you will visit:
Rheilffordd Ffestiniog Train Ride
Carving its way through the glorious landscape of Snowdonia National Park, the Rheilffordd Ffestiniog is the oldest railway company in the world. Celebrating almost 200 years of history, this classic company still uses the 150-year-old original locomotives and antique carriages. Wind through fields and forests, past waterfalls and lakes while journeying from sea level to the Blaenau Ffestiniog depot. You'll negotiate a complete spiral and trek through a tunnel carved through the mountain itself.
Porthmadog
This small coastal town in the Eifionydd area of Gwynedd is known locally as 'Port.' A stroll down the quaint streets of this lively harbor town is an opportunity to peer into its artisan craft and curio shops and enjoy an atmosphere of proud heritage and community. Porthmadog is the terminus of the Ffestiniog Railway.
What you will see along the way:
Discover North Wales, home of Snowdonia National Park, by both rail and motorcoach. Begin in Holyhead with a scenic motorcoach drive that takes in Britannia Bridge and Anglesey, the Menai Strait and Beddgelert, one of the prettiest villages in all of Wales. Your 90-minute Rheilffordd Ffestiniog train journey takes you up steep grades and around tight horseshoe bends and includes the Dduallt spiral and the New Moelwyn Tunnel. Later, your return drive to port takes in endless pastoral farmland.
Betws-y-Coed
North Wales's most popular inland resort, Betws-y-Coed, is located in lovely Snowdonia National Park. The alpine atmosphere at this Victorian-style village charms guests with ancient bridges and plunging waterfalls and is the perfect setting for a bountiful lunch at a typical Welsh hotel.
