Welcome to Maunakea the world's tallest oceanic mountain. Maunakea is 13,804 feet tall from sea level and it is Hawaii's tallest volcano. It's home to the most productive ground based telescopes in the world.
More discoveries and Nobel prize winners are all made from these observatories. Viewing our beautiful island from the summit is a once in a lifetime adventure. Visit the Maunakea visitor information center and get you or your loved ones a wonderful gift.
See one of the most endangered plants in the world the Maunakea silversword (ahinahina). Learn about Maunakea and it's observatories. Visit Liliuokalani Gardens, the largest Japanese Edo style garden outside of Japan. All the bridges, pagodas, and pathways were all imported from Japan over a hundred years ago. One of the most beautiful and tranquil places in Hawaii. See the black lava rock beach, marine life such as turtles and rays (occasionally) and our very own state bird the Nene Goose (occasionally). Guests should be able to walk on uneven or rocky terrain. Because of high altitude this tour is not advised for those with respiratory, circulatory or heart conditions, pregnancy or poor health.
