What you will visit:

Honolii Orchards
Upon reaching the estate, we'll gather in the brand-new Honolii Orchards Tasting Room, a stunning space nestled above the lush canopy, offering breathtaking views of the Honolii River Valley and the sparkling Pacific Ocean. Next you'll delve into the history of chocolate with an in depth educational seminar from your guide. You'll learn everything, from its ancient origins in Mesoamerica, its rise as a commercial crop in Hawaii, to today's modern craft chocolate movement. Chocolate has enchanted humanity for over 6,000 years, and its story is as rich and captivating as its flavor. Next, you'll savor 10 or more single estate craft chocolate bars, each sourced from different farms across the Hawaiian Archipelago. This allows you to appreciate the incredible diversity of flavors that single-origin craft chocolate offers. Like wine, craft chocolate reveals how genetics, location, and weather converge to create unique flavors. We'll intersperse the tasting with special seasonal treats from the farm, like lychee, sugarcane, rambutan, mangosteen, apple banana, and ice cream bean. You'll also be able to sample fresh cacao juice, fermented cacao beans, cacao tea, and other delectable seasonal fruits and treats from the farm.

What you will see along the way:
As we set off from the port, the road travels through Hilo, where streets are lined with swaying palms and clusters of colorful flowers. Soon, the landscape becomes more rural. Passing through the small village of Paukaa, you'll ascend the slopes of Maunakea with its panoramic vistas to Honolii Orchards.

Tasting:
On this immersive tour, you'll embark on a flavorful journey. You'll indulge in a tasting of up to 10 distinct craft chocolate bars, each representing the unique flavor of Hawaii's diverse farms, where factors like genetics, climate and geography influence the flavors. As you savor each bar, you'll also enjoy seasonal farm-fresh treats like lychee, sugarcane and mangosteen. Alongside the chocolate, you'll sample fresh cacao juice, roasted cacao beans, and cacao tea, gaining a deeper appreciation for the complexity of cacao. After the tasting, there is time for guests to take photos and make purchases. Other local products are occasionally for sale as well, such as hand-crafted vanilla beans and vanilla extract, small-batch hand-crafted soaps, and dried white pineapple - as well as other seasonally available locally-made specialties.
