What better way to see the magnificence of Berlin than in a small group on a comprehensive, all-day tour that explores this dynamic world city--the epicenter of German art, culture and history.

A motor coach will take you to the train station in Hamburg, where you'll settle into a comfortable seat to enjoy a 2.5- 3 hour scenic train ride. You'll travel through northern Germany's picturesque countryside, passing lush fields, dense forests and charming villages.

The train rolls into the station, where you'll meet your local tour guide, who will welcome you to Berlin with a comprehensive journey through the city center. Photo stop highlights include such famous landmarks as the 18th century Brandenburg Gate, crowned with a bronze quadriga - a chariot pulled by four horses driven by the goddess of peace - and remnants of the Berlin Wall, the most significant symbol of the Cold War.

And no one can resist a photo at Checkpoint Charlie. Checkpoint Charlie, the third in the series named using the military alphabet - the other two were Alpha and Bravo - became the most famous. Nearby, visit a remaining part of the Berlin Wall and imagine a time where the city was divided.

After a pause for a midday lunch in a traditional German restaurant, you'll continue on to one of the city's most spectacular buildings - the Reichstag. One of Berlin's most historic landmarks and the seat of the German Parliament, it housed the Imperial Diet of newly founded German Empire or Deutsches Reich, falling into disrepair after World War II. In the 1990s, it was brilliantly refurbished and returned to its original use. Note the spectacular glass dome designed by architect Sir Norman Foster, who said that the iconic dome's inspirational design was to create a symbol of the new German government, one that is open to all.

On top of the building, right next to Foster's futuristic glass cupola, you will find the lovely Käfer restaurant, where you can sit and enjoy a glass of sparkling wine while you take in the superb 360-degree views of the city's rooftops and look out over the Pariser Platz (the city's central square) and the Brandenburg Gate.

Then it's time for a quick shopping spree on the Kurfürstendamm, Germany's most famous shopping boulevard. Within approximately 30 minutes of shopping time, you're free to buzz along the broad, tree-lined avenue with its luxury department stores, designer boutiques, shops, cafés, clubs and restaurants.

With your time in Berlin coming to an end, enjoy the sights on the way to the train station.

Enjoy your return train ride back to Hamburg. A quick coach transfer takes you back to the ship.
