What you will visit:

Halifax Citadel

Perched high above the Halifax harbor, the Halifax Citadel is a star-shaped fortress that has stood watch since 1749. Built to protect the city from attack, it is a powerful symbol of Canada's colonial past and military heritage. With its thick stone walls, grassy ramparts, and hidden tunnels, the Citadel offers a glimpse into 19th-century garrison life. But when the sun sets, a different side of the Citadel emerges, one steeped in eerie legend. Widely regarded as one of the most haunted sites in Canada, the Citadel has long been the subject of ghost sightings, unexplained sounds, and chilling tales passed down through generations. Here, history and the supernatural walk side by side.

What you will see along the way:

Climb aboard a vintage double-decker bus for a short evening ride through the heart of Halifax before ascending Citadel Hill. Known as the City of Trees, Halifax transforms after dark, with quiet streets, flickering lamplight, and glimpses of its maritime charm.

Tasting:

After your candlelit journey through the haunted halls of the Halifax Citadel, settle into one of its historic chambers for a truly one-of-a-kind tasting experience. In partnership with Compass Distillery-Halifax's only grain-to-glass distillery-the Citadel offers three exclusive spirits, all aged on-site within the fort's walls. Noon Gun Gin: Made from 100% Nova Scotian wheat and 12 botanicals-including juniper, cucumber, and cilantro-this oak-aged gin delivers a smooth, full-bodied flavor. Daily Ration Rum: Crafted with Crosby's molasses and sugar, this traditional-style rum is oak-aged on site and bottled straight from the barrel for deep, complex character. Fort George Genever: An early gin ancestor distilled from local grains and infused with juniper, caraway, cinnamon, frankincense, and pink peppercorn, then oak-aged for rich flavor. Each spirit is paired with locally produced charcuterie.
