Your tour begins with a bus ride along the Haines Scenic Byway to the boat dock. On the narrated drive you will enjoy stories of the valley's history while you learn more about the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. Where the road ends, the real Alaska begins and so does your adventure.

At the modern dock facility, meet the friendly staff and your captain as you board a flat-bottomed boat to experience a narrated, guided ride along miles of scenic channels in the Chilkat River.

Your vessel is specially designed for navigate on this silt-laden river, which is the only access to a remote, roadless portion of the preserve where no other tour goes. Your open-topped boat allows you to view and photograph the majestic scenery and animals seen in an unhindered fashion. Warm outerwear and lap blankets will be provided.

Although wildlife is not guaranteed, eagles, moose and bears are often spotted along the riverbank, making this a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity.
