WHAT YOU VISIT
Coastal Nature Cruise
Established in 2009, this deep-ocean protected area in the Sea of Cortez is known for its study of tectonic and magmatic activity and the protection of rare and unique deep-sea ecosystems powered by geothermal energy rather than sunlight. It's also home to 400 species of fish and marine life. Experience the thrill of viewing this natural ocean habitat in a comfortable day boat. During this fully narrated, guided excursion your tour guide will point out geological formations and fault lines and explain how the Sea of Cortez was formed and how it got its name. Your guide will also point out the rich biodiversity of sea birds, ocean mammals, plankton, seaweed, fish and desert cacti.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Challenge your fellow travelers and engage in a little friendly competition on this adventure as you try to take photos of the marine life on the on-board species identification charts. The sanctuary is brimming with snapper, grouper, triggerfish, octopus, California sea lions, bottlenose dolphins, and occasional seasonal whales and sea turtles.
