Puffin & Wildlife Boat Tour
Easy Activity
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
These small, agile vessels let us explore narrow waterways and get close to puffins and seabirds without disturbing their habitat. We offer a friendly, personal experience for every guest. Departing from Stykkishólmur, the tour sails to Elliðaey-one of the area's main puffin nesting sites.
From May to late August, around 2,000 puffin pairs nest here, and the surrounding islands are filled with birdlife, including arctic terns, kittiwakes, cormorants, and white-tailed eagles. Elliðaey is rich in both nature and history. Once inhabited until 1950, it still holds its original house, barn, and lighthouse, cared for by the same family that once lived there. Throughout the tour, you'll hear
fascinating stories about the island and the wider bay.
This trip is perfect for nature lovers and photographers, offering close-up views of puffin cliffs, basalt columns, and a known seal-spotting area. Dolphins and eagles are often seen along the way. A peaceful, unforgettable way to explore Iceland's wildlife and island history.
