What you will visit:
Panoramic Grand Turk by School Bus
For almost 500 years, explorers, merchants and pirates have long favored Turks and Caicos's treasured isle for its turquoise waters, powder-soft beaches and abundance of sun. Cockburn Town, also referred to as Grand Turk, is the capital city of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Painting Lesson at Botanical Garden
This uniquely designed garden of native and imported plants is divided into a series of habitats that represent the indigenous flora and endangered habitats of the island. The varieties of plants attract a large number of colorful birds, and the sanctuary offers wonderfully quiet places to stroll, sit and relax among the fragrant blooms. Inspired by the beautiful surroundings, you'll receive a canvas, paints and expert instruction to create your own masterpiece to take home.
Turks and Caicos National Museum
Housed within one of the oldest stone buildings on the island, dating to the early 19th century, the Turks and Caicos National Museum displays an array of artifacts relating to the island's fascinating natural history and cultural heritage. Its highlight is the remains of a ship from the Molasses Reef Wreck, dating to the early 1500s, the oldest excavated European shipwreck in the New World. The museum also houses a 3-D coral reef exhibit, a gallery dedicated to the island's involvement in the American space program, and a fascinating look at messages in bottles that have been found on Grand Turk's sandy shores.
What you will see along the way:
On your panoramic exploration of Grand Turk, the sights and sounds of this island paradise will delight. A variety of historical, cultural and natural attractions can be seen, including such highlights as the former U.S. Air Force Base; John Glenn's space capsule, a historical landmark on the island of Grand Turk; the salt ponds at Salt Cay Town; exciting Cockburn Town and its magnificent old colonial buildings of the 1600s and 1800s; pristine beaches; and the iconic 60-foot-high Grand Turk Lighthouse.
