Feel the pulse of Gothenburg during this 2.5 hour excursion that includes a narrated tour through town with stops at some of the city's most celebrated landmarks.

After boarding your comfortable motorcoach your guide will share his knowledge of Gothenburg as you cross over the Älvsborgs Bridge and travel into the heart of the city. Gazing out your window you'll no doubt be captivated by Gothenburg's Old World charm. But as you make your way around the pleasant boulevards and past the canals, you may get the feeling that you're in a Dutch city. Founded in 1621, Gothenburg was heavily influenced by the Dutch who were contracted by King Gustavus Adolphus to migrate here. Using their skills and talents, they designed Gothenburg to resemble towns back home in the Netherlands. Gothenburg grew quickly into an important trade and maritime city and today, it's Sweden's second largest city.

Next you'll arrive at your first destination – the picturesque Masthuggs Church. Its location on a high hill assures that it's the first and last sight visitors see of Gothenburg when arriving by sea and although it has the appearance of a medieval church it was actually built in 1914. Outside, the 203-foot tower dominates the skyline while the interior's pegged timber ceiling is reminiscent of ancient stave churches from the Viking Age.

Back on the motorcoach, your city tour continues with a relaxing drive past Götaplatsen, a large public square that's home to a number of splendid sights. Here, you'll find the Art Deco-designed Gothenburg Concert Hall, the Gothenburg Art Museum, and the Poseidon Fountain, famous for the bronze sculpture that rises from the fountain's center was designed by noted Swedish artist Carl Milles. Travel down Avenyn, Gothenburg's main boulevard and home to exclusive boutiques many popular bars and restaurants before continuing on to the splendid plaza known as Gustaf Adolf Square, home to Gothenburg City Hall, courts and the city's main canal.
