Board your motorcoach and enjoy a scenic drive to Genoa, a vibrant maritime city resplendent with art, churches and palaces. The newly-renovated harbor has been transformed into a modern center of shops and eateries, designed by famous architect and native son Renzo Piano.
Begin at Castelleto Hill and commence on a guided walking tour through the enchanting streets of this historic Italian city.
Your guide will take you for a stroll down the spectacular Via Garibaldi, formerly known as Strada Nuova. A World Heritage Site since 2006, impressive buildings, landmarks, and elegant residences line the street. Many of the homes were built at the end of the 16th century by the city's wealthiest merchant families and are now used as picture showrooms and museums. Each building is different and the architectural variations are fascinating.

Palazzo Rosso, whose full name is Palazzo Rodolfo and Gio Francesco Brignole Sale, is a building located in the historic centre of Genoa . The name of the Palace depends on the particular color of the plaster that covers the outer facade, which was very unusual for the period in which it was built.

The Palace was built by the architect Pietro Antonio Corradi between 1671 and 1677 at the direction of Rodolfo and Joe Francesco Brignole-Sale. Until 1874, it remained in the possession of this family, until Maria Brignole-Sale, Duchess of Galliera, bequeathed it to the people of Genoa in order to "increase the artistic splendor of the city." So Palazzo Rosso became a municipal property and was turned into a gallery. Together with Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Doria Tursi, it forms part of the museum complex on Via Garibaldi, which houses works of art collected by the Brignole Sale family.
Marvel at the most opulent residence built during the Genoese century when you step into the sumptuous Palazzo Doria-Tursi. The building's façade is notable for its use of multiple materials and colors.

Built in the Century of the Genoese, Palazzo Doria Tursi, as well as hosting the boardrooms of the Mayor, welcomes the expansion of the Palazzo Bianco Gallery: in the monumental halls, famous pieces such as the Paganini's violin known as " Il Cannone " made by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, a remarkable exhibition of works of decorative art and collecting coins, weights and measures official of the ancient Republic of Genoa as well as the paintings from the seventeenth and eighteenth century, the Penitent Magdalen of Canova and letters signed by Christopher Columbus in one of the Syndicate Offices.
A lovely refreshment break is offered before you continue your walking tour.
Stroll over to San Lorenzo Cathedral for a wonderful photo opportunity with the two large lions that guard the entrance. Built between the 12th and 16th centuries, the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo features a splendid Gothic façade, typical of the Genoese style. French influence appears in the placing of the 13th-century doorways and the large rose window.
At the completion of your guided tour, enjoy time for independent sightseeing and shopping in vibrant Genoa. Then, return to the motorcoach for a picturesque drive back to port..
