WHAT YOU VISIT
Easy Gdañsk
The city of Gdansk dates back over 1,000 years. Its timeless beauty greets you as you drive into the city, revealing history everywhere you look. Once in Gdansk, you'll travel past the towering Oliwa Cathedral. This Cistercian shrine erected in the13th century was later reconstructed in a striking composition of two slim octagonal Gothic towers with a central Baroque portion wedged between them. Then, have your camera ready for a stop at the Monument to the fallen Shipyard Workers 1970, a tribute to those who died during the workers riots against the Communist regime. The three crosses symbolize three shipyard workers who died outside the shipyard's gate. Another photo stop awaits at Olowianka Island, located on the Mot³awa River in the heart of Gdañsk and home to the Polish Baltic Philharmonic.
