What you will visit:
Seal Bay
A rugged 4x4 vehicle allows for access to areas not easily reached by most tours. Seal Bay laps against the coastline of East Falkland and is an incredible habitat for several species of penguins, including colonies of gentoos, with flamboyant orange beaks and peach-colored feet; Magellanics, named after the maritime explorer Ferdinand Magellan; and thousands of rockhoppers, particularly friendly and highly entertaining birds that nest near the cliffs. Even the rare macaroni penguin has been spotted on its shores. Seal Bay has been designated an Important Bird Area and a sight of conservation significance. What you will see along the way:
Seal Bay is located on the rugged and exposed north coast of East Falkland. Drive through remote and varied landscapes. The tour travels along the main road past mountain ranges and geological stone runs, catalogued by Charles Darwin, before heading off road, traveling through Port Louis, the first land ever farmed in the islands, and onward to secluded Seal Bay.
Photo Opportunity:
In addition to the penguins, exceptional nature photographs can be taken of such wildlife as king cormorants, steamer ducks, ruddy-headed geese, sooty shearwaters and white-bridled finches. Nature photographers say the best animal shots take patience. Get your camera settings ready and then go explore or let the animals come to you!
Lunch:
A packed lunch and hot drink will be provided for guests to enjoy while feasting on the magnificent surroundings.
