Dolphin Academy Curacao
The Curacao Dolphin Academy has been in operation since 2002. The academy's mission is to provide an educational venue for guests to deepen their appreciation of these playful mammals of the sea. Initially, five coastal bottlenose dolphins were transported to the academy from Roatan, Honduras. Today this thriving family has grown to 20 strong! The Curaçao Dolphin Academy is dedicated to the humane care and training of the dolphins. Positive reinforcement is utilized, meaning the dolphins are rewarded for their mastery of a trick but never, ever punished. The Curacao Academy is 1 of the 3 facilities worldwide who take the dolphins to the open ocean. Everyday another pair of dolphins have the opportunity to follow the small boat and expand their territory. They go up to 1.9 miles away from the facility. This safe, interactive dolphin program is appropriate for all ages and an adventure you'll never forget. The knowledgeable dolphin trainer will teach you some of the hand signals used to communicate with these gentle mammals and how to interact with them in the water. Please note that cameras are not allowed in the water for the safety of the dolphins; professional photographers are on hand to take digital photos, which you may purchase after your experience.

Step onto a shallow platform to actually embrace and caress one of perhaps the most amazing animals in our ocean -- the dolphins. A dolphin behaviorist will teach you about the biology, behavior, and conservation of these unique mammals. No aquatic skills are required for this experience.

Travel through the historic district of Willemstad. The port of Willemstad is alive with historic treasures. One of the six UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Caribbean, it was selected in 1997 because of the city's dedication to the preservation of culture and its multicultural community that has grown over three centuries. The architecture and ambiance of Willemstad reflect influences from around the globe, and you'll be able to spot Latin accents, African heritage, and Dutch traditions throughout the tour.

Special Notes
Every child under the age of 8 need to be accompanied by a full paying adult. Participants must descend some stairs to get on the platform in the water. All surfaces are fully paved. The duration of the program in the water with the dolphins is approximately 30 minutes. Personal photography is prohibited at the Curacao Dolphin Academy. The photo service at the venue is not affiliated with or provided by the cruise line. Any photos purchased from this service will be the passengers' responsibility.
