What you will visit:
Knossos Palace
Evidence suggests the site of the Palace of Knossos has been occupied since the Neolithic era, but the area is perhaps best known for the first Minoan palace, built around 1900 B.C. This was the era of the mighty King Minos and the legendary half-man half-bull called the Minotaur, who was said to have lived in the labyrinth underneath the tiled floors. This magnificent palace, once the undisputed capital of Minoan civilization, spreads over 150,000 square feet and was home to over 100,000 citizens at its peak.
What you will see along the way:
A two-hour drive on a modern highway travels along the island's rugged north coast up into the hills of Heraklion to Knossos.
Lunch:
Tuck into a lunch of Greek delights featuring both hot and cold appetizers, traditional Greek salad, beef in tomato sauce with vegetables and rice, and fruit or ice cream for dessert. Sip a mineral water, wine, soft drink or beer plus unlimited coffee, tea and table water.
