WHAT YOU VISIT
Ajaccio Cathedral
Also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, Napoleon was baptized here in 1771.
The 16th century Roman Catholic cathedral commands your attention with elaborate chandeliers and white marble altar donated by Empress Josephine. With its imposing facade and ornate interior, visitors are treated to a serene atmosphere adorned with beautiful artwork and sacred relics.
The Musée National de la Maison Bonaparte (Napoleon's House)
The ancestral home where Napoleon was born in 1769 showcases artifacts, furniture, and personal belongings offering insight into his upbringing and rise to power. An inside tour takes you from the modest rooms where he spent his childhood to the grandeur of his later achievements.
Fesch Museum
Dating back to 1852, the building was commissioned by cardinal Fesch, Napoleon's maternal uncle, who donated over 1,000 works of art, including works by Botticelli and Titian. Acclaimed as one of the most important in France for its collection of Italian paintings, it's second only to the Louvre. Art lovers will delight in the impressive collections by Tiziano, Veronese and Botticelli, while history buffs can admire the extensive Napoleonic collection (including a bust and death mask).
