St. Michael's Mount
Strenuous Activity
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Your excursion begins as you board your motorcoach at the pier. From Falmouth, you'll travel alongside the River Fal. The scenic route takes you through peaceful countryside, past small villages, granite farmhouses and hedged fields, which give way to rolling downs as you approach the village of Marazion.
St. Michael's Mount is a small granite island accessible only by a narrow path exposed at low tide or by boat. The dramatic, rocky island once boasted a Benedictine priory that was inspired by the famous Mont St. Michel in Normandy. The Mount is also a private home to the St. Aubyn family for more than three centuries.
Climb the steep pathway to the castle entrance, enjoying dramatic views of Land's End and the Lizard. You'll enter the 12th century castle at the West Door and take in the Great Hall, St. John's Room, the Armoury, and in the oldest section of the castle, the Library and Chevy Chase Room, originally the monk's refectory. At the island's summit stands the priory church, still used for public worship.
Afterwards, you'll return to Marazion where you'll re-board your motorcoach for the return trip back to the ship.
