Get a glimpse into how Earth must have looked 450 million years ago when the continents of Africa and North America collided. Mantle from deep inside the earth spewed up and out creating the spellbinding Tablelands. Tucked inside Gros Morne National Park, this monumental geologic formation is a true example of plate tectonics and a jaw-dropping must see sight.

The two mile long trail is fairly easy but be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. And don't forget the camera-this full-day outing will provide camera buffs with one jaw-dropping photo opportunity after another.

Your adventure begins as you board your comfortable air-conditioned transportation in Corner Brook and head north towards Gros Morne National Park. A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park boasts tundra, forests, bogs, salt marshes, towering cliffs, waterfalls, and a freshwater fjord carved out by glaciers.
But the star of the show could be the natural wonder known as the Tablelands. Geologists come from around the world to study its significant geological features, which tell the grand story of Earth's evolution.

To learn more about what you'll encounter during the day you'll disembark at the Gros Morne Discovery Center. Peruse the interactive exhibits and art gallery, and browse the gift shop. The viewing deck affords amazing views-you camera will be working overtime.
Then, you'll take a short shuttle ride to the trailhead. Once you disembark you'll be amazed at the sight before you. The 80-minute walk leads you through a world that conjures up images of the moon. As you look around this alien landscape you'll observe ancient rocks called peridotite scattered over a bronze colored plateau and steep red slopes. Peridotite is one of the world's most abundant rocks-but it's usually found 30-200km below the earth's surface.

The landscape may look weathered and barren but if you look closely you may see a few hearty plants such as the carnivorous pitcher plant, which has learned to survive in this harsh environment by trapping bugs and extracting their nutrients.
After you wind your way back to the Discovery Center you'll hop back aboard your transportation and continue on to the Old Loft Restaurant for lunch. Situated in the enchanting and historic village of Woody Point, the 80-year-old restaurant is a restored Newfoundland fishing loft overlooking the scenic South Arm of Bonne Bay.
Finally, you'll return, your heart and camera filled with wild and wonderful memories of breathtaking beauty.
