WHAT YOU VISIT
Rome
Designed for groups of 20 or less, this exciting excursion takes you into Rome's archeological center, where you'll follow your guide into the Colosseum, one of Rome's most iconic landmarks. Built on the site of Nero's palace destroyed in 64 A.D., the Colosseum is the largest amphitheater ever built. Just steps away is the Roman Forum, the center of religious, political and social life in ancient Rome. Inside the Forum are a number of structures and monuments including the Temple of Saturn, once used a treasury, and the Roman Senate House. Then, you'll re-board your coach and drive into Vatican City for free time at St. Peter's Square. During your free time, visit St. Peter's Square, shop for souvenirs, or sample Roman cuisine.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
Dating back to 70 A.D., the colosseum is one of the grandest of all of Rome's monuments. Measuring nearly three hectares (six acres), it's the largest ancient amphitheater ever built and remains the largest standing amphitheater in the world. So how can you capture its grandeur? May we suggest a polarizing filter to soften the sun's rays and a wide angle lens, which captures the foreground along with the background.
LUNCH
One of the joys of visiting Rome is indulging in one of the world's great cuisines. Purchase a cappuccino at a trattoria, savor an authentic Roman carbonara in a cozy little ristorante or cool off with a refreshing gelato from a street vendor.
SHOPPING
Rome is a shopper's paradise. Look for leather goods, jewelry, local crafts, specialty food times like Roman wine biscuits, handmade chocolates and shoes.
