Washed by the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, and boasting a stunning coastline of cobalt seas, the fortified city of Ceuta watches over the Strait of Gibraltar as it has since long ago. It is the meeting point of two continents, two seas and four cultures: Christian, Muslim, Hebrew and Hindu, all living side-by-side.

Since ancient times, Ceuta's strategic location has encouraged the settlement of many different civilizations. Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Visigoths and later, Arabs and Portuguese occupied this place for commercial or military ends. Finally, it came to form part of the Spanish crown.

Your Ceuta adventure begins at the pier. Meet your expert driver and guide, board your comfortable air-conditioned motorcoach, and set off from the attractive port area straddling a beautiful natural harbor. You'll get a feel for the town's imposing landscape as you take in ever-changing views of the narrow isthmus, the rugged headland, and the seven peaks.

Your scenic route takes you up the flanks of Mt. Hacho and past the Desnarigado Castle-Museum to visit visit from outside Hermitage of San Antonio, a 16th century building where popular pilgrimages are celebrated. From here you will be rewarded with tremendous views towards Europe and Gibraltar.

A highlight of your day will be the time spent exploring the old town of Ceuta. The nerve center of this multicultural city is the majestic Plaza de Nuestra Señora de África where there is a monument to those who died in the African War (1859-60). Around the square stands the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de África, in which the image of the patron saint and permanent mayor of the city is venerated; the cathedral, on the site of an old Muslim mosque; the City Hall, and the Comandancia General military headquarters. You will continue walking on towards the impressive old city Walls and Moat that will give you an idea of the military & strategic importance of this city.

Afterwards your guide will walk you back to the ship or you can choose to stay in town.
