Snorkeling Adventure At Cabo De Palos For Families
Moderate Activity
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
There are as many ways to enjoy the beauty of this peaceful paradise as there are shades of blue in the sky and water. So why not dive right in with a three-hour excursion that includes a family fun snorkel led by certified PADI instructors, close encounters with some of the world's most colorful sea creatures, and once-in-a-lifetime memories.
Designed for beginning, intermediate and advanced snorkelers, your underwater adventure begins with a visit to the Diving and Snorkeling School Center in La Manga del Mar Menor, a 13-mile long spit that separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Mar Menor lagoon.
Your mask, fins, buoyancy control devices and weights will be provided; all you need to bring is a towel, sunscreen and a hat. And don't forget to bring an underwater camera to capture all the colorful marine life and extraordinary sights that you'll encounter down under.
From the pier it's a leisurely 20-minute drive to La Manga. Once described as the world's largest swimming pool, the area is dotted with quiet coves and lapped by the crystal-clear waters of Cabo de Palos.
Once you arrive, you'll be welcomed by your experienced PADI guide who will offer safety instructions in the use of your equipment. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors is the world's largest recreational diving membership and diver training organization so you know you'll be in qualified hands.
Before dipping into the Mediterranean you'll learn about the importance of a seagrass species called poseidonia alga, commonly known as neptune grass or Mediterranean tapeweed that is endemic to the Mediterranean Sea. It forms large underwater meadows that play an important part in the area's ecosystem.
Then, you'll don your gear, follow your instructor to the perfect spot and dive right in. Along with the sea grass you'll swim among the colorful critters that call Cabo de Palos their home: startfishes, Symphodus Tinca, among others.
When your exciting venture comes to an end, sit back and relax as you make your way back to the pier.
